Avoid Scams

NCDFCU Text Message Safety Tips
Protect yourself from text message scams by following these guidelines:

What NCDFCU Will Never Do via Text

✅ We will never ask for or send:

  • Your password, PIN, Social Security number, or full account details
  • A request for you to verify your identity by clicking a link
  • Confidential loan details or other sensitive financial information

✅ We will only contact you from official numbers. If you receive a message from an unknown number claiming to be NCDFCU, do not respond—call us directly at (718) 328-3930 to verify.

How to Spot a Scam

🚨 Be cautious of messages that:

  • Contain urgent language like “Act now!” or threats of account closure
  • Have misspellings or poor grammar—legitimate financial institutions send professional communications
  • Ask you to click a link to verify or update your account—instead, visit our website by typing https://newcovenantcu.org/ directly into your browser
  • Request that you send money, gift cards, or wire transfers—scammers often use these tactics

How to Protect Yourself

🔹 Verify before you act – If a message seems suspicious, call NCDFCU at (718) 328-3930 to confirm its legitimacy.
🔹 Avoid clicking unknown links – Instead, log in to your account by typing our official website URL directly into your browser.
🔹 Never share security codes – If you receive a one-time passcode (OTP) you didn’t request, someone may be trying to access your account. Do not share it.
🔹 Block and report scam texts – If you receive a fraudulent message, you can forward it to 7726 (SPAM) and report it to NCDFCU.
